What is the DORN SPINAL THERAPY? The Dorn Spinal Therapy has a 30 year old history of use in Germany. It is currently the most popular back pain treatment used in Europe by doctors, naturopaths and physiotherapists and it is finally available in Australia. It is a gentle spinal and joint treatment, which works to address back problems, joint problems and headaches caused by a wrongly aligned vertebra or a different leg length. It is a non-manipulative treatment which allows joints and vertebrae to ‘slip’ back to their right and natural position through self-determined movements of the patient. It is a low repetitive therapy as often all that is required is alignment of a single vertebra and the balancing of the leg length - the patient gets relief from back or neck pain, headaches and related discomfort. It is based on an understanding that the spinal column which is an extension of the central nervous system connects to meridians (energy channels), major organ systems and patterns of thought in the brain. Being a holistic concept and therapy, other areas of pain often can get relief as well by working on the meridian and nervous system of the body. How does the DORN SPINAL THERAPY work? Using movement is a fundamental element in the treatment so that all corrections happen in a dynamic where the patient is swinging either his leg, arm or moving his head, depending on the area the therapist is working on. The movement ‘distracts’ the muscles so they don’t resist the correction. This aspect of the treatment allows it to be very gentle.
How can DORN SPINAL THERAPY help your children? A fantastic technique to balance leg length differences in children before creates problems for the hips and ultimately the back later in development.
