FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is biomesotherapy?

Biomesotherapy is a new therapy consisting of the use of homoeopathic products which are sprayed in the mouth and the stimulation of specific points in the body with a saline solution. Most of these injections are given under the skin or in the muscles. Although these products have been used in Germany (and the rest of the world) for several decades, the specific name biomesotherapy came into being about a decade ago. According to Dr. Keustermann from Germany who conducted the training here in Australia the treatment is administered 70 million times each year in Europe!

In many countries it is called biopuncture.

2. What are the benefits of using biomesotherapy/biopuncture?

Pain is regarded as an important ‘signal’ that something is going wrong. Similar to a red light in the dashboard of your car; we do not just want to ‘take it away’ but want to look for the deeper cause of pain. This means that if pain can be alleviated without prescribing painkillers, we have good reason to conclude that the deeper causes of that particular pain have been taken away.

Most physicians and therapists use biomesotherapy for minor orthopaedic problems e.g neck and back pain. But one can also treat ankle sprain, sciatica, frozen shoulder and Achilles tendonitis. Biomesotherapy is also very successful in treating sports injuries. In addition the use of this therapy is another choice for those clients who have tried allopathic medicine (pharmaceutical drugs) but have had no success or have had unwanted side effects from the drugs. In some clients it may be advantageous to combine the conventional approach together with biomesotherapy. People do not necessarily have to stop drugs their doctor has prescribed when choosing this form of treatment.

Each case is taken into account individually, with full knowledge of all care providers.

3. How does it work?

A specific homoeopathic medicine is sprayed into the mouth and followed by the local stimulation of trigger points by the saline solution. This causes the homoeopathic medicine to be ‘drawn’ to the area maximizing the body’s healing resources at the area of pain. This can also have the effect of releasing local spasm and patterns of pain are able to be changed relatively quickly.

4. What to expect?

Most people – especially those who are apprehensive about injections are surprised how easy and quickly these injections are given. In fact, these injections cannot be compared with the ‘usual’ injections given in conventional medicine. The needles used are very fine and are more like acupuncture needles. Injections are given just under the skin; others are given into specific muscle points. Some of these points are trigger points or acupuncture points. Trigger point injections have their origin in the USA and the use of acupuncture points goes back to ancient Chinese medicine. Injections around joints are also common. In most cases, several little injections are given in a specific zone of the body at each session.

5. Does it hurt?

With the special “inject-ease” device, there is very little pain felt at all. Mostly no discomfort should be felt by the client. The device fits small single-use insulin syringes for hygienic delivery with maximum safety and efficacy.
